SABER1222 Compact Rack & Pinion CNC Router – MASSO G3 Controller
The CNC Basix SABER1222 is a compact rack & pinion CNC machine and CNC router equipped with a MASSO G3 CNC controller, designed for woodworking, signage, furniture manufacturing, plastics, acrylic, aluminium panels, engraving and other suitable CNC applications.
With a 1200 × 2200 mm machine footprint and an 830 × 1750 × 200 mm working area, the SABER1222 provides a practical CNC cutting area for workshops, sign makers, furniture manufacturers, hobbyists and businesses requiring a compact rack & pinion CNC router.
The SABER1222 uses rack & pinion drive systems on the X and Y axes, HGR20 linear rail systems and dual Y-axis motors. The machine is supplied with a MASSO G3 CNC controller, 2.2 kW air-cooled spindle and VFD, automatic homing, auto squaring and limit protection.
The open-ended machine design allows longer materials to pass through the cutting area, making the SABER1222 suitable for a range of CNC routing, engraving and production applications where longer material can be repositioned.
Compact Rack & Pinion CNC Router
The SABER1222 is designed to provide the benefits of a rack & pinion CNC drive system in a compact machine format. Its 830 × 1750 mm working area is suitable for a variety of sheet materials, panels, woodworking components, signage and CNC engraving applications.
The machine features a rigid square-tube steel frame, aluminium X and Y axis extrusions, HGR20 linear rails and rack & pinion drive systems on the X and Y axes. The Z axis uses an HGR15 linear rail system with an SFU1605 ball screw.
Rack & Pinion CNC Drive System
The rack & pinion drive system provides controlled movement across the working area while allowing high machine jogging and cutting speeds.
The SABER1222 uses dual motors on the Y axis and is equipped with seven proximity sensors for axis homing and protection.
The machine provides automatic homing and auto squaring to help establish the machine's working position and gantry alignment before machining.
MASSO G3 CNC Controller
The SABER1222 MASSO version uses the MASSO G3 CNC controller, an integrated CNC control system designed to operate the machine independently of a PC-based motion controller.
MASSO G3 combines the CNC control hardware and software required to operate the machine, including axis movement, spindle control, homing, limits and configured machine functions.
The controller features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and can connect to a computer through MASSO-Link software for machine monitoring and G-code file transfer.
MASSO G3 also provides a built-in toolpath display, four USB ports for compatible peripherals, direct spindle control and support for an MPG handwheel.
A 32-inch display, wireless keyboard and mouse are included with this SABER1222 MASSO configuration.
2.2kW CNC Spindle
The SABER1222 is supplied with a 2.2 kW air-cooled spindle and VFD kit.
The spindle has manual speed control between 12,000 and 24,000 RPM, allowing the spindle speed to be selected according to the material, cutting tool and application.
The machine is supplied with 3 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm and 8 mm collets and cutting bits.

Requirements
The MASSO G3 controller operates the CNC machine independently of a PC-based motion controller.
A personal computer or laptop can be used for designing and generating G-code, while G-code files can be transferred to the MASSO controller using supported methods.
